US Summit on integrative medicine and the health of the public
In late February 2009, a vital health summit took place in the US to discuss what's wrong with current medical care and how to improve it along integrated lines. Taking place at the prestigious Institute of Medicine and funded by health philanthropists Bravewell, it brought together leading authorities from the medical world, before a large, diverse audience.
We bring you some of the highlights from the conference. They include a talk by Dean Ornish MD about the science of integrated health. Ornish argues that 'genetics is not destiny' and that gene expression can be turned on and off by nutritional choices, exercise, social support and meditation.
