Doctors and patients must work together

Telegraph/ Michael Dixon

Dr Michael Dixon, writing in the Telegraph as Chairman of the NHS Alliance talks about the  reality of the limitations of NHS spending He argues:

'Political parties have been coming to their senses, and Conservative proposals promise to give doctors greater responsibility, with positive messages about co-operatives and encouraging volunteers. They must, however, avoid the perennial temptation to propose "one answer" to the NHS in terms of how clinicians and patients become more involved and accountable.

Local clinicians and patients should be encouraged to come up with their own solutions'.
